Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said: "The pope announced that he will leave his ministry at 8:00pm (7pm UK time) on February 28." He will step down after almost eight years in the post, having been elected in April 2005. Edward Pentin, from the Catholic Herald, told Sky News: "It really is too early to say what his greatest achievement has been."

2/10/13 - LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actor Charlie Sheen is reaching out to triple murder suspect Christopher Dorner. In the video posted Saturday, Sheen says, "Christopher Dorner. This is Charlie Sheen. You mentioned me in your manifesto so thank you for your kind words." He goes on to say, "I am urging you to call me. Let's figure out together how to end this thing," E! Entertainment reports that Sheen's video was not solicited or sanctioned by police. According to the celebrity news website, Sheen made the video on his own volition in hope of bringing an end to the deadly rampage. Sheen was one of many celebrities mentioned in Dorner's 20-page manifesto posted on Facebook last Wednesday. The 33-year-old Dorner called Sheen "awesome" in that document which laid out a long list of concerns, charges and threats against fellow LAPD officers who he blames for a 2008 termination. The search for Dorner, wanted in connection with the murders of three people, entered its fourth day on Sunday.Dorner -- who is accused of killing three people including a cop -- mentioned a number of celebs in his online "manifesto," and wrote about Sheen, "Charlie Sheen, you're effin awesome."LAPD wants this guy dead because now the shit hit the fan.
