Michael Rivero is the webmaster of http://whatreallyhappened.com/ and host of the What Really Happened radio shows on the Republic Broadcasting Network. Formerly with NASA, Michael transitioned his image processing skills (along with a brief stint as an actor) into the then-new motion picture computer animation field and has worked on films such as "Star Trek", "The Day After Tomorrow", and has supervised visual effects on "Brainscan," "LOST", and "Hawaii Five-0." Michael has taken a sabbatical from film work to focus all his efforts on peace activism. Michaels foray into blogging began before the word was even invented, and happened almost by accident when he spotted a suspicious photograph being broadcast on ABC news in 1994 related to the death of White House deputy Council Vincent Foster. Since that sudden beginning, Michaels website has expanded to cover diverse topics including the JFK assassination, the accidental shoot-down of TWA 800, election fraud, health issues, Saddams non-existent nuclear weapons, 9-11, the economy, and of course, the lies used to trick the United States into wars of conquest on Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Iran. Michael resides in Hawaii with his wife Claire, who is a composer and creates much of theme music used on the What Really Happened radio show.

Rachel Maddow Attacks Alex Jones and calls hin 'Crack Pot'

Rachel Maddow Attacks 'Crack Pot' Alex Jones' Oklahoma Tornado 'Weather Weapon' Conspiracy Theory

5/23/13 - Rachel Maddow closed out her Wednesday night show this week by taking on a familiar target: conspiracy theorist and founder of InfoWars Alex Jones. Maddow began by reviewing how some of his more "out there" theories have started to penetrate the halls of Congress before moving on to the latest tragedy he has attempted to exploit: the Oklahoma tornado.

Maddow pointed out that Jones' campaign to stoke fear about the government buying up too many bullets led directly to a bill proposal from Republicans in the House and Senate that would limit the amount of ammunition the Department of Homeland Security could obtain. She called the idea that we should be concerned about bullets when the federal government has armed tanks and drones is "so crazy, so out-there, that even the National Rifle Association wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot rifle."

Pointing to Jones' attempts to prove that everything from the Newtown shooting to the Boston bombing to 9/11 were staged by the government, Maddow said the InfoWars world sees conspiracy in "every tragedy." So is it really that much of a surprise that they now conspiracy in the Oklahoma tornado?

Maddow played a clip of Jones saying of Monday's tornado, "I don't know if this was a weather weapon or not," suggesting that the government has the ability "create and steer groups of tornadoes."

"Alex Jones should be disqualified from participating in Republican Party politics," Maddow said. "He crack pot theories shouldn't prompt hearings in Congress and inspire actual legislation." She urged Republicans to stop taking Jones seriously and stop appearing on his radio show. "Can we agree that it's over now, Republicans?"

"Astoundingly Disturbing": Obama Administration Claims Power to Wage Endless War Across the Globe

A Pentagon official predicted Thursday the war against al-Qaeda and its affiliates could last up to 20 more years. The comment came during a Senate hearing revisiting the Authorization for Use of Military Force, or AUMF, enacted by Congress days after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. At the hearing, Pentagon officials claimed the AUMF gives the president power to wage endless war anywhere in the world, including in Syria, Yemen and the Congo. "This is the most astounding and most astoundingly disturbing hearing that I've been to since I've been here," said Independent Sen. Angus King of Maine. "You guys have essentially rewritten the Constitution here today." We play an excerpts of Thursday's Senate hearing and our recent interview with Jeremy Scahill, author of the new bestseller, "Dirty Wars: The World is a Battlefield."

President Obama Heckled During Speech On Gitmo - 23 May 2013

President Obama Major Speech On Drones, Guantanamo, And Counter-Terrorism

Benjamin began shouting just after Obama began remarks on the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The president repeatedly asked Benjamin if he could finish his remarks, at one point pausing to let her finish yelling. "I'm willing to cut that young lady interrupting me some slack, because it's worth being passionate about," Obama said. He even went off script to address the heckler. "The voice of that woman is worth paying attention to," Obama said.

During President Obama's counterterrorism policy speech at National Defense University on Thursday afternoon, Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin interrupted when the topic turned to the closing of the military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

"I'm about to address it, ma'am," Obama said as Benjamin went off about the hunger strike currently taking hold amongst Gitmo detainees. "Why don't you sit down? But you've got to let me speak."

"You are commander-in-chief! You can close Gitmo today!" she continued, despite Obama's repeated protests that he intended to address those issues himself.

"You should let me finish my sentence," he said before explaining his desire for Congress to make it easier to transfer detainees out of the camp, allowing him to fulfill his promise to close Gitmo. "I am confident this legacy problem can be solved, consistent with the rule of law."

Obama also added that he is willing to cut the heckler "some slack" because "it's worth passionate about" the indefinite detention of the prisoners without formal charges.

Several minutes later, Benjamin interrupted once more, decrying the administration's killing of 16-year-old American citizen Abdulrahman al-Awlaki with a drone strike. Instead of protesting her interruption, Obama paused his speech and allowed her to rant while security attempted to remove her from the back of the room.

President Barack Obama Major speech on drone and counterterrorism policy at the National Defense University today

'It's an honor to return to the National Defense University. Here, at Fort McNair, Americans have served in uniform since 1791-- standing guard in the early days of the Republic, and contemplating the future of warfare here in the 21st century.
For over two centuries, the United States has been bound together by founding documents that defined who we are as Americans, and served as our compass through every type of change. Matters of war and peace are no different. Americans are deeply ambivalent about war, but having fought for our independence, we know that a price must be paid for freedom. From the Civil War, to our struggle against fascism, and through the long, twilight struggle of the Cold War, battlefields have changed, and technology has evolved. But our commitment to Constitutional principles has weathered every war, and every war has come to an end.
With the collapse of the Berlin Wall, a new dawn of democracy took hold abroad, and a decade of peace and prosperity arrived at home. For a moment, it seemed the 21st century would be a tranquil time. Then, on September 11th 2001, we were shaken out of complacency. Thousands were taken from us, as clouds of fire, metal and ash descended upon a sun-filled morning. This was a different kind of war. No armies came to our shores, and our military was not the principal target. Instead, a group of terrorists came to kill as many civilians as they could.
And so our nation went to war. We have now been at war for well over a decade. I won't review the full history. What's clear is that we quickly drove al Qaeda out of Afghanistan, but then shifted our focus and began a new war in Iraq. This carried grave consequences for our fight against al Qaeda, our standing in the world, and -- to this day -- our interests in a vital region.
