OPEC Declining Influence & The Shale Gas Revolution
Stratfor Europe Analyst Adriano Bosoni examines the challenges facing OPEC, including internal divisions and the increase in U.S. oil production.
Meanwhile the shale gas reserves located in the United States could be the key to energy independence in this country in 2023, meaning that its exports were higher than imports. The extraction system of this gas is based on the technology of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling, where shale is bombarded by water and chemicals releasing the gas. Besides the United States there are many other countries in the world are betting on this energy source.
