Philadelphia Building Collapse in Philadelphia Center City 5 injured 10 Trapped 4 story building
June 5, 2013 - 5 injured/ 8-10 Trapped, more feared trapped in 22nd & Market St. Center City collapse. As many as 10 people are believed to be trapped in the rubble of a building that collapsed Wednesday morning in Philadelphia, city Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said, according to CNN affiliate WPVI. The four-story building collapsed at the corner of 22nd and Market streets in Philadelphia's Center City area, WPVI reported.
The fire department was called to the site at 10:43 a.m., Capt. Jeffrey Thompson told CNN. Thompson said it wasn't immediately clear whether it was an apartment building or an adjacent building scheduled for demolition.
Video from WPVI showed emergency personnel walking on and around rubble on an exposed area of a ground floor. Several people were trapped in the rubble of a four-story building that collapsed Wednesday morning in Philadelphia, rescue officials told local media.
The structure, located centrally near 22nd and Market Street, was next-door to a building that crews were demolishing. It's not immediately clear what caused the collapse.
Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers told ABC News that between eight and 10 people are believed trapped under the structure.
