The United States supplies Egypt with nearly $1.3 billion in aid on an annual base, and now after the ousting of former President Mohamed Morsi the military is in control of the country and the cash. Since the chaos in the country has spiraled out of control, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has expressed his opposition to continuing to fund the country in its current state and is calling on Obama to stop the transfer of money. ReplyDeleteWhy is it the responsibility of the United States to fix the political problems in Egypt? Isn't it primarily up to Egyptians to do that? Even if the USA provides $1.3B per year that's not a reason. Europe provides 5 times that amount.
