April 9 (Bloomberg) -- On April 8, the U.S. Navy released this video of the Laser Weapon Systems, installed aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey, which is currently in the Persian Gulf. The system claims to destroy airborne targets at a mere $1 per shot, versus the millions spent on a traditional missile. Video courtesy Office of Naval Research. (Source: Bloomberg)
